HISTORY OF
GIG HARBOR
Gig Harbor was originally
the home and fishing site for a small band of Nisqually Indians.
Discovered by the
Wilkes Expedition in 1841,
Gig Harbor is one
of the most scenic
settings in the
entire Northwest. The Gig Harbor Key Peninsula area boasts magnificent
views of Mount Rainier and is an ideal destination by boat.
It boasts a myriad
of activities, including parades, salmon bakes, local theatre, a Summer
Jazz
Festival, Purdy
Days, Key Peninsula Pioneer Days, Festival of the Arts, Autumn Apple Squeezing,
and a lighted boat parade at Christmas. |
